When Jesus entered Jerusalem on a donkey a moment eagerly awaited by history unfolded before the eyes of an entire society. Yet not many days after these same people would be confused, scattered, and thrown into the confusion of a tremendous storm. What happens when our expectations are shattered, when our vision of the future suddenly becomes obscured, and when a foundational principle we hold slips through our fingers? In that generation the disruption resulted from a misunderstanding of God and prophecy. Will we make the same mistake in our generation? There is a voice in the storm with the power to silence the roaring swells completely. Jesus is the King of Kings regardless of what unfolds around us. We must know, hear, and believe in the power of His voice. Cry out to God today for the strength that you need!
So the disciples went and did as Jesus commanded them. They brought the donkey and the colt, laid their clothes on them, and set Him on them. And a very great multitude spread their clothes on the road; others cut down branches from the trees and spread them on the road. Then the multitudes who went before and those who followed cried out, saying:
“Hosanna to the Son of David!
‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’
Hosanna in the highest!”
And when He had come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, “Who is this?”
So the multitudes said, “This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth of Galilee.”
