At a time when the gospel becomes unfashionable we must ask for the supernatural strength and resource to live for the sake of others, for the sake of the dying world, and for the sake of eternity. Will we shrink back and become self-focused in this generation? Will we continue to seek the Lord only for our own benefit? Will we not obey the higher calling to glorify the great name of Jesus by allowing God to equip us to be sent in service to others? Our prayer lives must conform to this more expansive vision of biblical truth. The personal is of course critical, but it is pivotal now to take the full counsel of God with the seriousness it deserves. We must press in to the Lord, seeking spiritual resources for those around us. It is time for the Lord’s harvest!
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him! Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.
