To a divided America it seems as if there is no longer any agreement on what happens from day to day let alone how it should be interpreted. Every event catalyzes multiple different sets of surrounding conclusions. We are living through a type of societal confirmation bias that is largely unprecedented. What is confirmation bias? How does it affect our thinking? Is there an effective way to understand and to escape its clutches? Will we ever move past this heightened phase, or is confirmation bias in this elevated form here to stay?
