Welcome back to The Amateur Society for a conversation about evidence. We have a tendency to believe that we are rational, that our beliefs are well-supported by evidence, and that we make decisions according to sound principles. However, more often than not we end up taking action based on whit, whim, instinct, and gut feeling. There isn’t enough time in the day to rigorously evaluate every decision, so we use heuristics and hopefully stumble into a result that isn’t completely disastrous. On this episode we talk about standards of evidence and how we evaluate the best explanations for said evidence. Thanks again for joining us on The Amateur Society!
