Welcome back to The Amateur Society for a conversation about what it means to be an amateur and the impact of the cult of expertise. Expertise is important and necessary, but in our society we often give people who are experts in a specific field credibility in other areas when a true expert needs to spend all of their time in their field to stay at the head of the pack. Would you rather be the best at one thing and average at everything else, or would you rather be in the top ten percent at everything? The proper amateur pursues balance and a broad knowledge base to become anti-fragile to the pressures and stresses on life. Thanks again for joining us on The Amateur Society!
